Part 1, True Love. Part 2, Betrayed.

Cookie's Monkey Socks are finished. J. Knits luscious sock yarn, Color 136. I loved making these so much, I immediately cast on a second pair, in Lorna's Laces Jungle colorway. Then guilt made me pick up the pair of promised socks for Sean. More Meilenweit Boot Stretch, in the blue-green blend. I was so jazzed, I raced through the first sock, bound off the toe tonight, and was ready to cast on the mate. Sean tried it on...and "uh oh." Ominous choice of words. Aren't hand made socks supposed to elicit, "ooh ahh"? The sock is too short in the foot, too short in the leg! Whaaaaa? Since someone has been lax about keeping notes (read that as any) I'm guessing that I cast on the number of stitches for socks for me (64) instead of stitches for himself's feet (72). Doh. Back to the book (Sensational Knitted Socks). Do the math. Start over and do it again. So much for my goal of knitting four pairs of socks this month.

Someday this object of betrayal will have a mate, but for now, it is being sent to sit in the corner, with its hands folded, and think about what it has done.

Obviously the yarn wanted to be socks for you not Sean. Karma made you cast on 64 stitches instead of 72.

Lovely monkey socks, too.
