Last night, despite the clouds gathering in the east, we went down to the north end of Cannery Row, where there is still an accessible beach. We thought maybe the moon was totally hidden behind clouds and almost gave up. Suddenly, a tiny red gleam revealed itself behind the Gabilan hills. It was quite a sight, very moody and strange.
