St. Louis City Museum

All cities should have something like this. An artist who spent his life collecting wonderful oddments, abandoned bits and pieces, architectural salvages, finally began housing it in an old shoe factory (also abandoned). It continues to grow, and now there are lofts for sale in the upper stories. The whole place is so inspiring, and amazing. Kind of overwhelming, but in a good way. Instead of feeling museum ennui after you leave, you feel energized to go home and make something!

I spotted this charming creature during my last visit in August; he makes me want to scratch behind his ears.
