Last weekend, part deux

Despite the migraine with aura of Saturday night, I woke Sunday feeling pretty good. We got up, showered, had breakfast at Pat's Cafe around the corner from the San Remo hotel, checked out and drove to the Marin Headlands. On the weekends in September and October, the spot known as Hawk Hill there on the headlands is a viewing point for an incredible river of raptors flying south from the Arctic and Canada. On some days, there are hundreds an hour...kind of like a good meteor shower. The Golden Gate Raptor Organization has observers doing counts and identification, as well as presenting informational talks and demonstrations. The weather was overcast, but very pleasant, not cold and windy, the view spectacular, and the birds were inspiring. Such amazing, wonderful creatures, such a wild and daunting life, especially having to deal with what humans have done to their kingdom.

In my next life, I want to have wings.
I'll even settle for being
a pigeon (Peregrine food)
the first time.
