And a bag to put it all in

Finished! A fun, satisfying knit, in just two evenings, with another evening for sewing together the twill ribbon, adding machine embroidery and attaching it to the bag. Amy Singer's pattern from the current issue of Knitty.com, in Elspeth Lavold's Hempathy from my lovely LYS, Monarch Knitting. They also turned me on to the new Clover Takumi Velvet needles, which turned out to be very nice indeed. I put the bag into service today, walking to Trader Joe's and stocking up on necessities for us, cat food for the cats, as well as impressing the young checker who exclaimed "This is great! I hate that we've lost the ability to make things by hand in this country." He said his mother had tried to teach him to knit, and this inspired him enough to give it a try again. Cool!

Nice! I downloaded the same pattern. You've inspired me, also. I'll have to move it up on my list of future projects.

Hi Catmum,

Your bags are lovely and your photos, too. They make me a bit nostalgic for the Monterey Penninsula--I grew up in Salinas.
