These guys work for Sisyphus

Every day, all day, for more than a year now, there are lots of guys, and lots of heavy equipment, working on this beach.
They pick up giant rocks from one end of the beach here

and dump them one or two at a time into giant beach trucks, which then drive

up to the other end of the beach, dump them into a big pile

whereupon another big expensive piece of equipment (tyranno-claw-loaders?) picks them up, one or two at a time and dumps them into another big truck, which then drives them somewhere. Probably back to the other end of the beach. All of this, of course, is in a vain, but expensive, effort to keep the ocean from gnawing away at the beach, and all the expensive homes that front it.
Pointless. Kind of how it all feels these days.
